BEST PRACTICES

  • 1. SET YOUR GOAL

    There are many ways you can use CARDS. The more clear/specific you are about your goal, the more impactful you will be. What is your goal? What action do you want to trigger? On the last line, you may want to insert a call-to-action (e.g. HIRE ME or JOIN US).

  • 2. BE AUTHENTIC

    Say something authentic and personal. Authenticity creates interest and trust. Get rid of all the fake/buzz words and create genuine communication. Who are you really? Why are you unique? Who do you want to become? Which secret are you willing to share?

  • 3. TELL A STORY

    Stories can provoke emotions and inspire people to take action. People come to ignore routine things. By presenting a message in an unexpected or striking way, it will get the attention it deserves. So, before editing, have a nice story to tell.

  • 4. SHORT & SIMPLE

    While long words can convey deep meaning, short and simple words can be understood and remembered by a large audience. Therefore, you should try to have a good mix between long and short (1 or 2 syllables) words.

  • 5. EDIT, EDIT & EDIT

    Editing is different from publishing. In editing, you select the fewest most important words to communicate your message. First, write on a paper all the words you have in mind, then think about what is truly important according to your goal. Finally stripe-out all the unnecessary.

  • 6. ORDER & FORMAT

    Different options to order your keywords (drag & drop) and format them (font colors, text alignments) can be used to create a custom look but also to improve readability of your keywords. So try the different options and chose the ones which best suit you and your audience.

  • 7. DOUBLE CHECK

    Before ordering your card, do check twice the spelling of your keywords. Use a dictionary if necessary. It seems obvious but it is probably one of the most important tip we can give you. So please do it!

  • 8. KEEP OPTIMISING

    It can take some time and introspection effort to finalize editing. Keep optimizing your keywords and you will see immediate benefits in your communication. This continuous editing process may impact your life in a way you don’t expect. Semantic is magic!
